North West elites hand over 75 million to Bamenda Main Market fire victims

The elites from the North West, along with other supporters, have raised 75.6 million FCFA for the victims of the Bamenda Main Market fire incident, as reported by The Observer.

On June 7, a committee responsible for distributing the resources equally among the victims was established in Bamenda. This committee includes the City Mayor of Bamenda, the Traders’ Association President, the CBC Executive President, representatives from the Governor’s office, the Archbishop of Bamenda, and the PCC Moderator.

Starting June 11, victims can collect their support at OPSECS. Minister Delegate at the Ministry of External Relations in charge of the Commonwealth, Felix Mbayu expressed his empathy for the victims, stating, ‘When we heard about the fire incident, we felt your pain.’

He acknowledged the market’s significance as a source of livelihood for the victims and as the commercial center of the entire region.

The representatives of the victims conveyed deep gratitude for the assistance recei
ved. They urged the City Mayor to prioritize the reconstruction of the market.

City Mayor Paul Achombong revealed that an extraordinary Council session would soon be convened to discuss and begin the reconstruction process.

Official reports indicate that 292 shops were destroyed, affecting 439 traders during the fire incident in February 2024.

Kénédougou/Peace effort: An association offers a motorcycle to the VDP of the commune of Orodara

The Association for the economic, social and cultural development of Orodara (ADESCO), presented this Monday, June 10, 2024, a motorcycle to the president of the special delegation of the municipality of Orodara, Emmanuel Konaté, for the Volunteers of the defense of the homeland (VDP) falling within its territorial jurisdiction, with a view to contributing to the peace effort.

The handover of the motorcycle was made on Monday June 10, 2024 by the Association for the Economic, Social and Cultural Development of Orodara (ADESCO) for the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP) of the municipality of Orodara.

According to the vice-president of the Association, Karim Barro, this donation is part of support for the peace effort.

Sourou/Insecurity: The population of Tougan cleans up the surroundings of the Tougan-Toma road

The population of Tougan, capital of the Sourou province, Boucle du Mouhoun region, cleaned up on Saturday June 8, 2024, the surroundings of National Road No. 21 Tougan -Toma (RN 21) Tougan-Toma to fight against insecurity.

Sourou: A musician artist supports the FDS and VDP with 40% of his concert revenue

Loroum: Titao supplied with basic necessities

The town of Titao was once again supplied with basic necessities on Friday June 7, 2024, after 3 months of shortage.

Departing on the morning of Friday June 7, 2024, around 9 am, it was around 2 pm that the convoy of vehicles, tricycles and motorcycles set foot on Titao, to the cheers of onlookers along the tracks.

A few weeks before, the need for fuel was felt in the city.

to return home.

‘Our journey went well. There were only a few mines that the Defense and Security Forces successfully defused,’ said a trader.

With the arrival of the convoy, Titao regained its former animation. The market square was stormed by residents who came to stock up on products.

‘We are relieved with the arrival of the convoy. Several basic necessities are now available,’ rejoiced a woman who came to the market.

Another, basket in hand, added, ‘Only, we no longer have anything to pay for the products, because money is scarce in the city.’

All night, the transporters unloaded their cargoes and reloaded other goods, notably market garden products for Ouahigouya and Ouagadougou.

The procession of several vehicles set off early the next Saturday morning for the return trip, leaving behind an enthusiastic population.

The city of Titao has been going through a difficult security situation since 2021, but with the multiple efforts of the armed forces and the recent creation of the Rapid Intervention
Brigade (BIR) 21, several opening-up initiatives are being undertaken to the delight of local populations.

The High Commissioner of the province of Léraba, Mahamadi Congo, chaired on Thursday June 6, 2024, the ceremony of ‘act 17’ of the solemn raising of the national flag associated with the follow-up visit of the achievements of the Léraba plain development and development project (PAVAL), in Niofila, Dounia department.

In order to promote and consolidate the spirit of citizenship and patriotism through the observation of citizen attitudes towards the symbols of the State, particularly the national colors, the first authorities of Léraba, second province of the Cascades region initiated the solemn and rotating raising of the flag in the public structures and services of the province.

Launched on June 9, 2022 within the confines of the Léraba high commission, the Léraba plain development and development project (PAVAL), is the 17th service which has just honored this tradition this Thursday June 6, 2024 in Niofila, Dounia department.

ompaniment of the constituted bodies, carried out a visit to the achievements of the project on the ground.

170 ha have been fully developed and the remaining 600 ha have a completion rate of more than 21%.

Mahamadi Congo affirmed to be satisfied with the achievements likely to answer the question of the much desired agricultural offensive.

As for PAVAL project manager, Solima Kaboré, ‘Currently, the activity is in the process of installing operators for the upcoming winter season.’

After receiving the torch, the provincial director in charge of Professional Training in Léraba, Adama Konfé, appreciated the initiative of rotating the flag in state services.

‘Thanks to this ceremony, almost all provincial services in Léraba are highlighted with the presence of the national flag flying in their enclosure,’ he added.

Adama Konfé has promised to equip his service with a flagpole with everything needed to succeed next Thursday, July 4, in this ceremony of raising the national colors.
