100 Income-Generating Kits Boost Economic Independence In Tenkodogo

Tenkodogo: The Youth Volunteer Association For The Promotion Of Leadership, Health And Development (AJVLS), With Support From The NGO Action Against Hunger (ACF), Officially Handed Over 100 Income-Generating Activity (IGA) Kits To 100 Vulnerable Beneficiaries On Friday, As Part Of The Nutrisafe Project. Led By AJVLS In The Communes Of Tenkodogo And Dourtenga, This Initiative Aims To Strengthen The Economic Resilience Of Households Affected By Security And Humanitarian Crises.

According To Burkina Information Agency, The Ceremony Was Presided Over By Sami Berenger Poda, President Of The Special Delegation (PDS) Of The Municipality Of Tenkodogo, Alongside Administrative Authorities, Decentralized Technical Services, And Project Partners.

In His Address, The PDS Praised The Initiative, Highlighting Its Importance In Addressing The Needs Of Vulnerable Social Groups. He Emphasized That The Equipment Should Be Viewed As "A Genuine Opportunity To Sustainably Improve The Living Conditions Of Households."

He Encouraged Beneficiaries To Responsibly Use The Equipment And Actively Participate In Training Sessions To Ensure The Sustainability Of The Activities. He Assured Them That The Municipality Would Support The Effective Use Of The Kits Through Its Social Services.

The Nutrisafe Project Is A Multi-Sectoral Emergency Initiative Focusing On Food Security And Livelihoods (FSL). It Aims To Enhance The Economic Autonomy Of Households By Supporting Income-Generating Activities Tailored To Local Needs.

Mohamed W. Ouedraogo, Chairman Of The Board Of Directors Of AJVLS, Spoke At The Event, Recalling The Organization's Long-Standing Commitment To The Well-Being Of The Population Since Its Creation In 1996. He Described The 100 Kits As "Keys" To Financial Independence And Local Development.

The Distributed Equipment Includes Sewing Machines, Traditional Loincloth Weaving Kits, Food Processing Equipment, Livestock Farming Equipment, And Trading Tools.

Beyond Equipment Distribution, AJVLS Emphasizes A Capacity-Building Program. Training Modules In IGA Management Have Already Been Developed, With More Underway, To Equip Beneficiaries With Technical And Entrepreneurial Skills.

The Project Also Promotes Village Savings And Credit Associations (Vslas) To Strengthen Financial Solidarity Among Beneficiaries And Secure Household Incomes.

The Communes Of Tenkodogo And Dourtenga Are Involved In The AGR Component, With Decentralized Technical Services Playing A Role In Implementation And Monitoring.

Among The Beneficiaries, Hope Is Tangible. Folpoa Koidima, Visibly Moved, Expressed Gratitude For Her Kit, Which Included A Weaving Machine And Cooking Pots. "I'm Going To Take This Seriously So That It Will Benefit Me And My Family," She Confided, Expressing Hope For The Return Of Peace To Burkina Faso.
