Sissili: The municipality of Bissiga has officially allocated a 12.5-hectare site in the village of Sananbin to the agricultural Village Development Programs (VDPs) of the third cohort. This initiative is aimed at supporting the agropastoral and fishery offensive, thereby contributing to the food sovereignty of Burkina Faso.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the official presentation of the site took place during a field visit led by Benjamin Zalv©, the prefect and president of the special delegation (PDS) of the municipality. The delegation included members of the Village Development Councils (CVD), traditional chieftaincy representatives, decentralized technical services, and the beneficiaries. The purpose of this visit was to present the area allocated to the agricultural VDPs for their production activities.
The PDS stated that this initiative aligns with the vision of Burkina Faso's highest authorities to increase national agricultural production and strengthen food sovereignty. Benjamin Zalv© emphasized the allocation of the plot to the agricultural VDPs and urged landowners to respect this decision. He acknowledged the commitment of the traditional chief of Bissiga, His Majesty Naaba Boulga, along with other village chiefs and resource persons, for facilitating the site's identification through consultation.
The PDS highlighted that making this area available will improve agricultural yields and promote learning, skills development, and economic empowerment among beneficiaries. The representative of the traditional leadership noted that the village of Sananbin was chosen due to its suitability for agricultural activities and assured that the people of Bissiga would support the agricultural VDP in their mission, despite the security context.
Harouna Ou©draogo, representing the head of the Agricultural Technical Support Zone, reaffirmed the availability of agricultural services to provide technical support to beneficiaries throughout the campaign. On behalf of the agricultural VDP, their representative expressed gratitude to the authorities for their trust and acknowledged the responsibility in combating food insecurity. He committed to using their skills for a successful agricultural campaign and requested support from authorities to operationalize the site swiftly.
The visit concluded in an atmosphere of conviviality and collective mobilization, with participants offering prayers for an abundant agricultural season.
