2,900 Vulnerable Households in Gay©ri Receive Food Assistance from CONASUR

Gay©ri: The High Commissioner of the province of Komondjari, Valentin Gnanou, President of the Provincial Council for Emergency Relief and Rehabilitation (COPROSUR), officially launched the first phase of free food distribution to 2,900 vulnerable households in the province on June 24, 2026.

According to Burkina Information Agency, this operation, implemented by the National Council for Emergency Relief and Rehabilitation (CONASUR), aims to support internally displaced persons, vulnerable host populations, as well as returnees during the lean season. The beneficiaries will receive a total of 70 tons of cereals, 700 cartons of pasta, 700 five-liter cans of oil, and salt.

In his address, the High Commissioner commended the efforts of the Burkinabe Government in support of vulnerable groups and recalled that this distribution constitutes the first of three phases of food assistance planned during the lean season. "This food assistance is intended to improve the food security of vulnerable households. I urge beneficiaries to use it responsibly, rationally and prudently," he said, while also urging people to avoid wasting, selling or any inappropriate use of the food received.

Mr. Gnanou also called on the various actors involved in the operation to demonstrate professionalism, transparency, fairness, and responsibility so that the aid effectively reaches the identified beneficiaries. The Provincial Director of Family and Solidarity of Komondjari, No«l W. Konkobo, expressed his gratitude to the highest authorities of the country for the efforts made despite the constraints related to the mobilization of resources.

The High Commissioner finally paid tribute to the 20th Rapid Intervention Battalion of Gay©ri for its support in transporting food supplies from Fada N'Gourma to Gay©ri, in a context marked by significant logistical and security challenges.
