34 Candidates Disqualified for Cheating in Guiba Exams


Zoundw©ogo: Thirty-four candidates in the first round of the BEPC 2026 at the secondary center of Gu©r©, in the commune of Guiba, province of Zoundw©ogo, were disqualified by the jury for massive fraud in the English and physics-chemistry tests, AIB has learned.



According to Burkina Information Agency, a notice posted by the jury indicates that suspicions of fraud were detected by the English and physics-chemistry examiners on the papers of candidates at the Gu©r© examination center. Observations by the teaching staff and a thorough analysis of the papers by the jury confirmed the facts, leading to the disqualification of the 34 candidates involved.



The regional director of Secondary Education, Vocational and Technical Training of Nazinon, Dj©n¨ba Ou©draogo, expressed that she received the news as a “shockwave”. She noted that such practices do not contribute to the credibility of the national education system and assured that she was following the procedure carefully, in accordance with the provisions of the BEPC Procedure Manual, the reference document for organizing the examination in Burkina Faso.



For Georgette Niki©ma, the provincial director in charge of Basic Education for Zoundw©ogo, this is an unprecedented case in the province. She indicated that investigations are underway to determine responsibility.



The head of the Guiba examination board, Todjim Mar©, explained that cases of cheating had been reported by the English and physics examiners on 34 papers, all from the Gu©r© secondary school, including four English papers. After a thorough examination of the papers in question by designated educational supervisors, a report confirmed the existence of proven cheating.



Following its deliberations, the jury applied the provisions of the BEPC Procedure Manual providing for the cancellation of the copies concerned and the removal of candidates found guilty of fraud, specified the president of the jury of Guiba Todjim Mar©. Investigations are ongoing to determine responsibility.
