38 Young Wrestlers Compete in Youth Tournament at Bemba Sitoa Club of Toma

Nayala: 38 young wrestlers competed in the youth tournament of the Bemba Sitoa Club of Toma. The Bemba Sitoa Club of Toma organized on Saturday, at the Center for Reading, Education and Cultural Promotion (CELPAC), the 9th edition of its annual youth tournament, in the presence of customary authorities and sponsors.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the event was placed under the patronage of Ousmane Koraogo and Lawapan de Pankele Ky, a former glory of traditional wrestling. The competition brought together 38 wrestlers, including 7 girls, divided into 6 weight categories. Before the final stages, the representative of the traditional leaders blessed the event and offered wishes for peace in Burkina Faso. The sponsors praised the initiative and reaffirmed their commitment to supporting efforts to promote traditional wrestling.

The competition took place in a sporting spirit, despite the disqualification of a wrestler for registration fraud. At the end of the fights, the best wrestlers in each category were rewarded with cash prizes ranging from 5,000 to 15,000 CFA francs. The organizers have invited wrestling fans to the next edition, with the ambition of further strengthening participation and promotion of the discipline in the province of Nayala.
