3rd Edition of FESCULO Kicks Off in Founzan with Focus on Peace and Unity

Tuy: The 3rd edition of the Lossanni Cultural Festival (FESCULO) was officially launched in Founzan by Issiaka Segda, the High Commissioner of Tuy Province, on behalf of the Governor of the Guiriko Region. The opening ceremony, held on April 2, 2026, was attended by Nestor Kahoun, Special Advisor to the Ministry of Communication, Culture, Arts and Tourism, and other dignitaries.

According to Burkina Information Agency, Tionou Lamy, chairman of the organizing committee, announced that about twenty traditional dance troupes and three groups of fiber masks from Founzan and its neighboring localities are participating in this edition. The festival, scheduled from April 2-4, 2026, is themed "Cultural and artistic expressions, foundation of peace and living together," and aims to immerse attendees in the local culture through performances by traditional dance troupes and fiber mask artists.

On behalf of the sponsors, Daouda Teri expressed gratitude for being chosen to sponsor the event, while Wahabo Kabore, president of the Founzan special delegation, voiced satisfaction at hosting the festival and reaffirmed the municipality's commitment to supporting FESCULO.

High Commissioner Issiaka Segda, delivering a speech on behalf of the Minister of Culture, praised the festival as a revival of cultural identity and congratulated the organizing committee and partners for promoting culture and social cohesion. He emphasized that FESCULO symbolizes a resilient and united community, aiming to build a society based on solidarity, peace, and harmony.

The festival organizers announced several new features, including the promotion of endangered local dances such as Homboyoro, Yamboyoro, Parimpinyoro, Daanse, and Siro. Additional events include an archery competition, performances by local musicians, awareness-raising activities, an exhibition and sale of traditional crafts, and the promotion of local cuisine.

The ceremony also featured the official launch of contributions towards the progressive construction of the prefecture of the department of Founzan, part of the Presidential Initiative for Community Development led by the organizing committee.
