Gourma: Veterinary services, in collaboration with the municipal police of Fada N'Gourma, seized and incinerated 420 kilograms of spoiled fish on Tuesday, which were discovered at a wholesale and retail fish market in the city. The operation follows a complaint on social media reporting a foul odor coming from the offending point of sale. Alerted, the technical services of the regional and provincial directorates of Agriculture, Water, Animal and Fisheries Resources of Goulmou and Gourma, accompanied by the municipal police, went to the site to verify and confirmed the veracity of the reported facts.

According to Burkina Information Agency, Bazoin Bako, an agent with the regional veterinary services of Goulmou, stated, "21 cartons of fish, each weighing 20 kg, totaling 420 kg and valued at over 600,000 CFA francs, were discovered in an advanced state of putrefaction." Mr. Bako indicated that the seller's cold chain was inadequate and that proper supply rules were not being followed. "The fish were found in extremely unsanitary conditions, with no hygiene measures in place," he said.

The provincial director of Agriculture, Water, Animal and Fisheries Resources of Gourma, Salifou KonfE, stressed that selling fish under such conditions seriously exposes populations to public health risks. "These practices can lead to stomach aches, food poisoning, and even loss of life," he warned. Mr. KonfE also addressed the merchants regarding their responsibility, urging them to consider the health of their customers and respect their dignity in the conduct of their business. "Such practices are intolerable during a time of revolution," he declared.

For his part, the representative of the municipal police of Fada N'Gourma, Mahamoudou Bapouguini Thiombiano, invited the population to report any suspicious case of sale of consumer products to the competent services in order to contribute to the preservation of public health.
