Dori: The 4th Military Region organized a solidarity New Year's Eve celebration on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, at the Liptako camp in Dori, in honor of soldiers and Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP) wounded in operations, to show them the Nation's gratitude for the sacrifices made in the theater of operations.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the ceremony brought together administrative and military authorities, constituted bodies, the Defense and Security Forces (FDS), the VDP as well as those wounded in operation. The chairman of the organizing committee, Captain Thomas Dakin Ilboudo, praised the resilience and courage of the wounded, recalling that, despite the physical and moral trials, the military family remains united and committed to the pursuit of its mission.
He expressed his gratitude to the military authorities, partners, and well-wishers whose contributions made it possible to hold this New Year's Eve celebration, which was marked by reflection, brotherhood, and hope, the founding values of the National Armed Forces. The commander of the 4th Military Region, Battalion Commander Amadou Sanou, indicated that this initiative reflects the solidarity within the armed forces, which he described as the cement of the National Armed Forces.
According to him, the meeting provided an opportunity to encourage wounded comrades-in-arms, temporarily sidelined from operational duties, while also conveying wishes for their speedy recovery and the official recognition of the Nation. Battalion Commander Sanou also called on the population to strengthen their collaboration with the FDS and the VDP, an essential condition, he stressed, for the lasting return of peace to the region.
Speaking on behalf of those wounded in operations, Sergeant Isma«l Sawadogo thanked the military hierarchy and the authorities for this mark of consideration, stating that this gesture demonstrates that they are neither forgotten nor abandoned. He reminded them that the injuries they bear are the price of duty fulfilled and assured them that, despite the physical aftereffects, their morale, their determination, and their attachment to the homeland remain intact.
The governor of the Sahel region, Abdoul Karim Zongo, for his part, wished a happy new year 2026 to those wounded in operations, while praising the efforts and sacrifices of the fighting forces who guarantee the continuity of the Burkinabe state in a difficult security context.
