Ouagadougou: 500 young people from the International Center for Evangelization/African Inland Mission (CIE-MIA) participated on Friday in Ouagadougou, in the making of paving stones on the site of the Faso Mebo Agency, as part of the 13th edition of the CIE-MIA Youth Universities.According to Burkina Information Agency, this initiative aims to enable young Christians to contribute, in their own way, to the development and beautification efforts of Burkina Faso, explained Pastor Serge Samandoulougou, coordinator of the National Youth Movement of CIE-MIA. Around 300 young people are mobilized on the site of the Faso Mebo Agency, located at the Philippe-Zinda-Kaboré high school, while another team of 200 is working on the Thomas-Sankara boulevard to lay the paving stones."For this 13th edition, we decided to bring some of the youth to come and make paving stones, encourage the team that is here, but also pray for the nation," he said. According to him, this action also responds to the call from the spiritual leader of the CIE-MIA inviting young people who are not engaged on the front lines to contribute to the national effort.'The FDS, the VDP, many are young and are on the front lines. But other young people who are not on the front lines must also ask themselves what initiatives they can take to show that they care about this nation,' stressed Pastor Samandoulougou. In addition to their labor, the young people brought about 19 20-liter cans of oil intended in particular for the demolding and formwork necessary for making the paving stones.The coordinator also indicated that the CIE-MIA has already contributed financially to the actions of the Faso Mebo Agency, with donations estimated at more than 10 million FCFA in previous months. The involvement of young people in this activity is in line with the objectives of the CIE-MIA Youth Universities, which focus in particular on spiritual, socio-educational, professional and civic training.The 2026 edition, which began on Tuesday, August 25, brings together ap proximately 10,000 young people, aged 18 to 59, coming mainly from Burkina Faso and several countries in Africa and the West, including Ivory Coast, Benin, Mali, Togo, Cameroon, and Italy. Participants also devoted time to prayer for peace in Burkina Faso at the Faso Mebo Agency site. The 13th edition of the CIE-MIA Youth Universities is scheduled to end on Saturday, August 29, 2026.
