Ouagadougou, The Wekré collective launched, Wednesday in Ouagadougou, the first edition of Incub’arts which aims to structure and professionalize the plastic arts sector in Burkina Faso.
According to the executive secretary of the Wekré Collective, Aboubakary Sanga, 30 young Burkinabè will benefit from an initial online training for 6 months.
The training will be held in 3 disciplines namely art criticism, exhibition curating and artists’ agent.
The project also aims to provide the winners with regular monitoring, always online, for 3 years after the training.
The call for applications will include several selection criteria, in particular those based on the proven interests of learners in the various artistic fields and those based on their computer knowledge.
The Wekré collective is an association governed by Burkinabè law, created in September 2020.
Its main objective is the promotion, professionalization and development of culture through the visual arts.
It organizes 3 main events annually, the first two of which are “Wekré” which is the contemporary arts market in Ouagadougou and “Yiriwa” which is a visual arts exhibition in the city of Bobo Dioulasso.
The third event is “Incub’arts”, the first incubator dedicated to training young people in the visual arts professions in Burkina Faso.
