Ouagadougou, The ex-close guard of Captain Thomas Sankara, Bossobé Traoré was described on Wednesday as a mole by the civil party at the Ouagadougou Military Tribunal.
During the events of October 15, 1987, the ex-close guard of Captain Thomas Sankara was shot in the elbow.
He spent 45 days at the Yalgado Ouédraogo University Hospital Center in Ouagadougou (CHU-YO) before being evacuated from Paris.
“I was lying on the ground with my hands spread out and I was shot at,” he said.
But for the lawyer of the Sankara family, Me Guy Hervé Kam, Bossobé Traoré was a mole with President Sankara.
He noted that he certainly took a stray bullet on October 15, 1987 but the objective was not to kill him because the dreaded soldier, Azouma Ouédraogo said Otis who was a few meters away could not miss his target.
For Me Guy Hervé Kam, the accused Bossobé admitted during his interrogation that he could not be missed with a Kalashnikov that was held a few meters from him.
According to Me Kam, defense documents show that two weeks after the coup d’état, the defendant Traore took steps for his evacuation in France.
According to Me Guy Hervé Kam, this trip was not linked to the accused’s health problems but “to get him away from Burkina, he who was the mole of President Sankara’s guard”.
Bossobé Traoré is being prosecuted in the Thomas Sankara case for “complicity in assassination and complicity in an attack on state security”.
According to Me Maria Kanyili, Bossobé Traoré’s lawyer, her client was qualified as a traitor because he was part of the close guard of Captain Thomas Sankara.
For her, Mr. Traoré was urgently evacuated to France following his injury in the events of October 15, 1987 in Burkina Faso.
However, she regrets that the civil party thinks that her evacuation would be a reward for her participation in the Coup d’Etat.
To hear Me Kanyili, his client had as leader the soldier Laurent Ilboudo and his deputy Idrissa Sow who were not also executed and wounded at the time of the facts.
The hearing was suspended at the request of the counsel for the accused Tibo Ouédraogo for health reasons and will continue tomorrow Thursday with the accused Alidou Jean Christophe Diébré.
