Dori: As part of Burkinabe Heritage Month, the Sahel Regional Directorate of Communication, Culture, Arts and Tourism organized a panel in Dori to enable Sahelians to revisit and identify aspects of their cultures and traditions that could help identify and resolve community conflicts.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the event marked the third edition of Burkinabe Heritage Month in the Sahel region, featuring a panel discussion centered on endogenous mechanisms for conflict prevention and resolution among Sahel communities. The Fulani, Sonrai, Kurumba, Keltamachek, and Gulmachema communities presented their ancestral practices for resolving conflicts, which are rooted in social organization, alliances, rites, and authority figures.
Mr. Saba Gouinkouni Bernard, the regional director of communication, culture, arts and tourism of the Sahel region, stated that the objective of the Burkinabe Heritage Month is to allow Burkinabe people to reconnect with their common history and values, fostering a harmonious communal life.
The Secretary General of the Sahel region, Mr. Auguste Kinda, emphasized the timeliness of the panel's theme, given the ongoing security crisis in Burkina Faso. He highlighted the importance of cultural values in promoting social cohesion and urged the youth to embrace these values to create a peaceful environment.
