Governor of Northern Region Inaugurates UNDP-Built Infrastructure in Passor©

Passor©: The Governor of the Northern Region received educational and health infrastructure built by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in the commune of Yako on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, during a tour.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the Governor of the North, Thomas Yampa, was accompanied by a delegation that included the UNDP focal point in the Northern Region and administrative authorities from Passor©. The delegation's first stop was the village of Tanghin, located about 30 kilometers from Yako, where they officially accepted educational and health infrastructure developed by the UNDP for the local population of Tanghin and Petit-Samba. These villages are situated in the communes of Yako and Kirsi, respectively.

In Tanghin, the delegation inaugurated several facilities, including a building with six classrooms, a borehole, a kitchen, and latrines, all constructed by the UNDP for the public primary school in the village. Following the events in Tanghin, the delegation proceeded to Petit-Samba, approximately 11 kilometers from Yako on the RN2, to inaugurate a pharmaceutical storage room and housing for the Social Center for Health Promotion. Additionally, the local maternity ward and dispensary in Petit-Samba were rehabilitated by the UNDP, showcasing the organization's commitment to improving health infrastructure in the region.

Prior to commencing the tour, Governor Yampa and his delegation paid courtesy visits to the High Commissioner and the president of the Special Delegation (PDS) of Yako, further strengthening the ties between local authorities and international partners.
