Solenzo’s BIR 18 Provides 4 Tons of Rice to Displaced Persons

Solenzo: The 18th Rapid Intervention Battalion (BIR 18), based in Solenzo, handed over 4 tons of rice to internally displaced persons (IDPs) on Friday, May 25, 2025, in front of the premises of the Banwa Humanitarian Action and National Solidarity service. As part of the strengthening of civil-military ties, Captain Papa Parfait Kambou, commander of BIR 18, handed over 4 tonnes of rice, or 80 bags, to High Commissioner Sanfi©nal© Joseph Sirima, intended for IDPs.

According to Burkina Information Agency, this gesture demonstrates the solidarity and spirit of brotherhood that the BIR fosters towards the displaced. Captain Papa Parfait Kambou handed over the food to the High Commissioner, who in turn forwarded it to the provincial director of Humanitarian Action and National Solidarity, Lamine Nacoulma.

"It is our duty and our commitment to understand the difficulties our IDPs are experiencing. We assure them that we must fight this fight together and pray to God for the return of peace, so that everyone can return to their villages," the captain stressed.

For his part, the High Commissioner appreciated the gesture of BIR 18, especially at the start of the agricultural season when food rations are a problem for several IDP families. Mr. Sirima, congratulating the captain on this donation, appealed to all residents of Banwa province to follow his example. According to him, a donation is never small, and if each resident can offer a bag as a token of support, it will help relieve the burden on many internally displaced persons.
