Burkina: The Ministry of Industry plans the rehabilitation of the Bobo-Dioulasso slaughterhouse

Ouagadougou, The Ministry of Industry is planning the rehabilitation of the Bobo-Dioulasso slaughterhouse, its first manager Harouna Kaboré said on Friday.

The Minister in charge of Industry, Harouna Kaboré said on Friday that the rehabilitation project is part of a more global project to build 5 modern slaughterhouses in Ouagadougou and Bobo-Dioulasso.

Minister Harouna Kaboré was speaking to the National Assembly on the management of the Bobo-Dioulasso refrigerated slaughterhouse.

He explained that the objective is to eventually have two industrial meat production slaughterhouses in Burkina Faso.

The rehabilitation of the refrigerated slaughterhouse in Ouagadougou and the construction of the refrigerated slaughterhouse in Bobo-Dioulasso and three modern slaughter units are also planned, he said.

“At the end of the construction, it is planned that the management of the Bobo-Dioulasso slaughterhouse and other slaughterhouses will be entrusted to private operators on the basis of leasing specifications”, he said. -he declares.

“The infrastructures are called upon to be returned to the private sector thus recruited, once the State has entered its funds” he confided.

Harouna Kaboré recalled that the Bobo-Dioulasso refrigerated slaughterhouse (AFB) is an establishment that offers as its main service, the slaughter of animals for the benefit of butchers in the city of Bobo-Dioulasso.

He recognized that from a legal and institutional standpoint, the AFB is today an “ambiguous anonymous entity” whose nature, status and regime of its administration are almost non-existent and remain to be defined.

“However, the AFB is an administrative entity attached to the MICA and as such receives an annual subsidy of around 70 million CFA francs for its operation,” said Minister Harouna Kaboré.
