Boromo: The Muslim community of Bale province gathered to celebrate the Tabaski festival on June 6, 2025. In Boromo, four designated prayer sites welcomed Muslim worshippers early in the day. Among the attendees at the Sector 2 site, located at the old market, were the provincial high commissioner, Martin Bako, along with a delegation of administrative authorities and representatives from sister religious communities.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the prayer was led by Imam Ousseni Dao, who conducted the main acts comprising two raqu=Sts, the reading of Quranic verses, the formulation of blessings, and the ritual sacrifice of the sheep. Imam Dao called upon Allah for peace and victory over the nation's adversaries and extended his best wishes to the people, the defense and security forces, and the administrative authorities.
The president of the Muslim community, El Hadj Aboulaye Konat©, extended warm Tabaski celebrations to all Muslims in the province and offered a solemn remembrance for soldiers who have fallen in service, their families, and the sick in hospitals. He also wished Muslims a fulfilling pilgrimage.
High Commissioner Martin Bako, who was joined by officials from the defense and security forces, as well as representatives from Catholic and evangelical communities, marked the occasion with their presence. Bako conveyed holiday greetings to Muslim worshippers, voicing hopes for their health and safety.
Mr. Bako stated that the authorities' presence was to demonstrate solidarity with the Muslim community and to express gratitude for their prayers for the nation. He urged young people to celebrate moderately, mindful of the challenges facing Burkina Faso.
Christian community representatives also conveyed their well-wishes to the Muslim community, highlighting the spirit of unity, social cohesion, and religious tolerance prevalent in the Bale province.
Following the prayer, the delegation visited Sunni religious authorities in Sector 3 and the head of Boromo canton to further extend their wishes. The authorities' presence was warmly received by the faithful and religious leaders.
Throughout Boromo, the festive atmosphere was palpable, with defense force patrols and security measures ensuring the safety and peace of the population.
