Fourth Edition of Konkoun Festival Kicks Off in Nayala

Nayala: The starting signal for the fourth edition of the Konkoun Festival has been launched. Wrestlers from Nayala and other regions of Burkina Faso invaded the wrestling arena of the Public Reading and Cultural Animation Center (CELPAC) this Saturday for the kickoff of the fourth edition of the Konkoun festival.

According to Burkina Information Agency, under the theme "Uniting around culture to build a nation of peace and prosperity: role and place of stakeholders to boost the sector", this edition highlights the importance of culture in national development. In total, around 121 wrestlers are ready to compete in various categories and a women's motorcycle of the Apsonic X-Plus-1 brand, worth 500,000 CFA francs, will be offered to the winner of the open category.

The category fights began this morning at 10 a.m., while the finals will take place on Sunday, June 8, 2025, starting at 3:30 p.m. In addition, spectators and athletes will have the opportunity to purchase non-timber forest products and other items from local processors on site.

This 4th edition is being held under the patronage of the Minister of Urban Planning and Housing, Mikalou Sidib©, and the Minister of Communication, Culture, Arts and Tourism, Pingdwend© Gilbert Ou©draogo. It is chaired by the High Commissioner of the Nayala province, Honor© Fr©d©ric Par©, and also benefits from the sponsorship of the Director General of the National Fund for the Promotion of Sport and Leisure, Commander Karim Souabou, and the Battalion Commander, Commander Ousseni Koswend© Zida.
