Ouagadougou: Burkinabe artist Lilika, whose real name is Augusta Kambou, released her debut album, "Manamanako," on Thursday. Composed of six tracks, this opus aims to challenge young people on the importance of sincerity and respect for commitments.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the artist, originally from the Southwest region and a teacher by profession, aims to promote the richness of her culture through a blend of traditional and modern musical styles, inspired by her passion for music.
The album's tracks cover various themes. "Naw©" explores romantic heartbreak and disappointment, while "Enseignant" is a tribute to teachers, particularly Lilika's adoptive father, himself an educator. "Tangba" is a song of gratitude and praise to God, and "Gantaramera" revisits a cult title from the 1980s. With "Espoir," Lilika calls for perseverance and resilience, while the eponymous track "Manamanako" urges young people to commit sincerely, denouncing hypocritical behavior.
Performed in Lobiri and Dioula, the songs explore several musical registers, reinforcing the cultural roots of the work. The album was unveiled at a press conference in Ouagadougou, where the artist's communications manager announced a promotional campaign through media, shows, and festivals, both nationally and internationally.
The public was informed that Lilika will perform live on July 26, 2025, in Gaoua. The album has been available since Friday, with the release of the music video for "Manamanako" on social media. Lilika appeals to all Burkinabe, both within and outside the country, to support her new musical journey.
