EBOMAF Group Pledges Over One Billion CFA Francs to Aid Displaced and Vulnerable Populations in Mouhoun

Mouhoun: The EBOMAF group presented a donation worth more than one billion CFA francs in D©dougou on Monday, July 21, 2025, for internally displaced persons (IDPs) and vulnerable host populations in the commune. The ceremony was held on Martyrs Square, in the presence of administrative, traditional, and religious authorities, as well as a large crowd.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the donation includes 120 tonnes of rice, with 70% allocated to IDPs and 30% to vulnerable host populations. Additionally, the donation encompasses 500 mobile toilets equipped with solar panels, showers, sinks, toilets, 400 tents with 20 places each, and 100 boreholes for access to drinking water for IDPs and the operation of sanitation facilities. Furthermore, 20 additional boreholes are designated for host communities.

The High Commissioner of Mouhoun Province, Souleymane Nakanabo, representing the Governor of the Boucle du Mouhoun region, expressed appreciation for this humanitarian gesture. He quoted, "The goat says that we must always thank the wind, because without it the shea tree would not have fallen," as a token of gratitude to the donor.

Former Minister of National Education, Professor Stanislas Ouaro, representing the Chairman and CEO of the EBOMAF Group, Mahamadou Bonkoungou, highlighted the gesture as part of a patriotic solidarity in response to a call from the Head of State, Captain Ibrahim Traor©. "The CEO acts with his heart. For him, reaching out to those who are suffering is a duty, not a favor," he emphasized.

Professor Ouaro reiterated the donor's commitment to the well-being of the populations, particularly those in his region of origin. "This donation is an expression of a deep attachment to the native land and a constant commitment to supporting the efforts of the state and communities in improving the living conditions of citizens," he stated.

Dieudonn© Tougfo, President of the Special Delegation (PDS) of the commune of D©dougou, conveyed deep gratitude to the donor and encouraged other economic actors to emulate this example. "It is not enough to sympathize, we must act," he remarked.

The representative of the head of the canton of D©dougou added that while the word "thank you" seems small, it remains appropriate, noting that "even the intestines will not finish saying thank you when they are full."

This donation addresses a critical humanitarian situation in the Boucle du Mouhoun region, which has been grappling with a security crisis and its social repercussions for several years. The commune of D©dougou has become home to a growing number of internally displaced people who live in precarious conditions, often lacking decent shelter or regular access to food and basic hygiene.
