Ouagadougou: The Ministry of Security held its annual sectoral review on Wednesday in Ouagadougou, collaborating with non-governmental organizations (NGOs), development associations, and partner foundations to assess the implementation of investment programs for 2024. Chaired by the Secretary General (SG) of the Ministry, Commander Ahmed Ou©draogo, who represented the Minister of Security, the opening ceremony underscored the significance of this consultation framework to reinforce the partnership between the State and entities involved in security.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the sectoral review aimed to take stock, present the consolidated report from NGOs, and formulate recommendations to better guide future actions. The Secretary General of the Ministry emphasized that this review facilitates effective monitoring and evaluation of NGO interventions and ensures better synergy in program implementation.

By January 31, 2024, over ten NGOs and associations were active in the security sector, but only six submitted their annual reports, which were used to prepare the consolidated report. Despite this, Commander Ahmed Ou©draogo highlighted a 78% physical execution rate, a 113% financial execution rate, and a 100% absorption rate, praising the commitment of these partner structures.

The Director General of Sector Studies and Statistics, Lassana Bargo, noted that these NGOs contribute not only to securing facilities and cities but also to improving the well-being of populations through combined actions on the ground. The Ministry plans to further encourage partner organizations to adhere to reporting deadlines to have more complete data for a comprehensive evaluation of their actions. The meeting also served to explore new perspectives for enhancing the effectiveness of field interventions.
