Dargo: A militant attack on a military base in Dargo, northern Burkina Faso, has resulted in the deaths of approximately 50 soldiers. Local sources reported that about 100 militants launched an assault on the base on Monday, leading to the tragic loss of life, followed by looting and the destruction of the facility.
According to Nam News Network, the armed group Jamaat Nasr al-Islam wal-Muslimin, or JNIM, is suspected to be responsible for the attack. While the military has not yet released an official statement, JNIM has been linked to numerous recent operations across West Africa.
Burkina Faso is grappling with a worsening security crisis, as armed groups have taken control of extensive areas, particularly in rural regions distant from the capital.
