Dano Police Enforce Community Service for Traffic Offenders

Dano: The Central Police Station (CCP) of Dano, in collaboration with the municipal police, initiated a community service operation targeting road users violating traffic laws. The operation, held on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, aimed to curb incivility and traffic accidents in Dano.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the operation involved arresting individuals who disregarded the highway code. Violations included ignoring traffic lights and stop signs, exceeding speed limits in built-up areas, and using mobile phones while driving.

Offenders were immediately assigned community service tasks, and their vehicles were impounded at the police station. They participated in cleaning gutters along the national road (RN)12, a measure intended to aid water runoff and prevent flooding in Dano.

Participants expressed appreciation for this police initiative. Dominique Ayoro emphasized the importance of respecting authority and traffic rules. "I invite everyone to be civic-minded, which I myself teach, by the way. I drove through a red light carelessly and was arrested. I am proud to participate in cleaning the gutters to clean up our city. I ask everyone to respect the established codes of conduct," he said.

Sylvie Somda, another participant, noted that the operation would enhance the town's health and aesthetics. "I advise road users to stop and look left and right at intersections before entering, even if there are no stop signs. I am happy to participate in the work," stated Ms. Somda.

The vehicles will be returned to owners upon presentation of legal documents. On the first day, 72 vehicles were seized, and 81 people were arrested. The operation is set to continue in the coming days in Dano.
