South African Journalists Challenge Misconceptions About Burkina Faso’s Tourism Potential

Bagre: Visiting Bagre as part of SITHO 2025, a pair of South African journalists expressed their surprise at the gap between the negative image often conveyed internationally about Burkina Faso and the reality on the ground. Seduced by Burkinabe cultural riches and hospitality, they call on Africans to come and discover for themselves a country "under reconstruction and full of potential."

According to Burkina Information Agency, the Prestons, who run a magazine and radio station in South Africa, remarked, "Everything that is said about the country is just noise. We have found that the reality is very different." The couple took part in a tourist excursion to Bagre, in the Nakambe region, on Thursday, as part of the International Tourism and Hospitality Exhibition (SITHO).

This incursion, called Educ'Tour 2025 and organized by Faso Tourisme, aimed to showcase the tourist potential of Nakambe, the guest region of honor at the 15th edition of SITHO. It allowed around thirty participants, made up of journalists and tourist operators from Burkina Faso, Mali, Cameroon, and France, to immerse themselves in the cultural and natural riches of the region.

"Burkina Faso is a country that is gradually being built, and what President Ibrahim Traore is doing is very impressive. This is why all Africans should come and learn from Burkina Faso," the South African couple added. They expressed their admiration for the cultural richness of the country and promised to devote a special section in their media to the promotion of Burkina Faso.
