IPDC Leads Clean-Up Operation at Ouezzin-ville Military Cemetery

Bobo-dioulasso: The coordination of the Presidential Initiative for Community Development (IPDC), under the National Bureau of Major Projects of Burkina Faso (BN-GPB), organized a clean-up operation at the Ouezzin-ville military cemetery on Saturday. The event aimed to foster civic-mindedness, citizenship, and patriotic commitment through a demonstration of respect and national solidarity.

According to Burkina Information Agency, volunteers, including members of the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) and civilians, assembled early in the morning at the military cemetery. The goal was to restore the cemetery's cleanliness as a tribute to its historical significance.

The Secretary General of the Guiriko region, Abraham Yiye Sondo, officially launched the operation, emphasizing the need to put into practice the values promoted during public conferences in the region. Sondo stated that the initiative was a way to honor those who fought for the country and stressed the ongoing importance of such acts of remembrance.

Lieutenant Colonel Lassane Porgo, commander of the second military region, highlighted that the initiative was more than a sanitation effort. It served as a means to honor the memory of those who fought to liberate Burkina Faso. He expressed pride in the community's involvement, noting that such participation reflects public gratitude and motivates the soldiers.

IPDC technical coordinator Dominique Konombo noted that the public conferences had inspired participants to commit to civic duties. He expressed satisfaction with both the strong turnout and the collaborative effort between the FDS and civilians.

The operation was organized alongside the Guiriko public conference on the values of citizenship, civic-mindedness, and patriotic commitment, in collaboration with the General Directorate for the Promotion of Citizenship and Peace.
