Nahouri/ziou: The regional directorate in charge of Water organized an awareness-raising meeting on Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) in Ziou, a locality approximately sixty kilometers east of P´. The meeting took place on Thursday, September 18, 2025, and aimed to prepare for the constitutive general assembly of the water users committee of the Ziou dam.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the meeting's primary focus was to lay the groundwork for the future assembly of the Water Users Committee (CUE) and highlight the critical role users play in sustainably preserving the hydraulic infrastructure. The discussions culminated in a commitment from the local population to act as intermediaries with various social classes to garner support for the process.

Mohamed Belohou, head of the regional water resources and hydraulic infrastructure department, expressed satisfaction with the meeting's outcomes. He noted the quality of discussions and strong mobilization as indicators of the community's readiness to support the establishment of the CUE.

The regional directorate's mission was supported by the provincial directorate of water, sanitation, and the environment of Nahouri, under the leadership of Beno®t Tiegnan.
