Gourma: The Governor of the Goulmou region, Ram Joseph Kafando, has extended the ban on driving certain motorcycles and tricycles throughout the regional territory, excluding the town of Fada N'Gourma. This decision was communicated via an administrative communique dated October 3, 2025.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the statement signed by the Secretary General of the Goulmou region, Siaka Ouattara, specifies that the ban targets motorcycles of the Aloba, Sanili, Fortune, or similar types, as well as tricycles. This restriction will apply 24 hours a day from Tuesday, October 7, 2025, to Sunday, January 4, 2026, inclusive.

The ban aims to enhance the security of the population, and the document notes that the measure could be renewed if deemed necessary. Exemptions from this ban are provided for the Defence and Security Forces (FDS), the Volunteers for the Defence of the Homeland (VDP), and any machinery users with authorization from competent authorities, such as High Commissioners, Prefects, Gendarmerie Brigade Commanders, and Police Commissioners.

The press release cautions that violators will face the risks associated with military operations and legal proceedings as per existing regulations. Governor Ram Joseph Kafando also urged the population to exhibit civic-mindedness and strictly adhere to the communique's terms to help consolidate regional security.
