Boulkiemde: The municipality of Nandiala held a municipal consultation session on Friday in the town hall meeting room, bringing together local development stakeholders to discuss issues of water, hygiene, sanitation and food security. Chaired by the president of the special delegation of the commune, Aminata Diallo, the meeting provided an opportunity to take stock of the activities carried out with the support of technical partners, notably the Burkinabe Red Cross, as part of the project to strengthen the resilience of communities by improving access to drinking water.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the head of projects at the Burkinabe Red Cross, Yacouba Fofana, stated that this project, which has been operating in Nandiala since 2014, aims to “strengthen local governance of the water sector” and to sustainably improve people’s access to drinking water, hygiene and sanitation services. Funded to the tune of 3 million euros for five municipalities, the project provides for the construction of hydraulic infrastructure, including a multi-village drinking water supply system in Nandiala, currently in the socio-economic and environmental study phase.
Ms. Aminata Diallo praised the quality of the collaboration between the municipality and its partners. She indicated that this framework for consultation also served as an opportunity to remind farmers that the on-farm collection of cereals by SONAGESS will soon begin, as will the livestock vaccination campaign conducted by the livestock technical service, all of whom were present at the meeting.
Participants were invited to maintain their commitment and to support the implementation of the various projects for the harmonious development of the municipality.
