Nayala: Dalla Marcus Invites You to Reconnect with Your Roots in Her Book “In Search of a Lost Education”


Nayala: The artist and writer Marcus Dalla presented on Saturday in Toma, his book entitled “In Search of a Lost Education”, in which he calls for a return to African values. “Let’s reclaim our culture, our languages and our traditions. The future of our education lies in our own roots,” the author told all Burkinabe youth.



According to Burkina Information Agency, the work addresses themes such as the distortion of African values, the loss of dignity, the break with cultural roots and the need to reconcile modern schools with traditional wisdom. In his speech, Dalla Marcus explained that his work is a profound reflection on African education and the need to revalue traditional and cultural values often neglected by the inherited colonial system.



For him, education is not limited to school, it begins at home, by transmitting the values and knowledge of our ancestors. Placed under the presidency of the Prefect, president of the special delegation of the commune of Toma, Zakaria Sawadogo, the dedication ceremony was attended by many personalities, students, friends, parents and culture and knowledge enthusiasts.



Born on August 12, 1993 in Toma, Marcus Dalla did his primary education at the Toma Sud school before obtaining his baccalaureate at the Toma Municipal High School. Holder of a degree in private law from Thomas Sankara University, he is now a man of letters and culture, founder of the Centre for Cultural Studies and Development (CEDC) in Ouagadougou.



In addition to this book, Mr. Dalla is the author of two works, namely “In Search of a Lost Education (philosophical novel)”, “Acansteriatre (collection of poetry)” and “The Door of the Journey of No Return (novel)”. Prefect Zakaria Sawadogo praised “the courage and perseverance of a young man who, through writing, contributes to the intellectual and cultural development of Nayala and Burkina Faso”. He invited the students present to be inspired by the author and to make reading an instrument of awakening and personal transformation.
