Solenzo: The 18th Rapid Intervention Battalion (BIR), led by Captain Papa Parfait Kambou, organized a blood donation operation on Sunday, November 2, 2025, as part of the commemoration of the 65th anniversary of the National Armed Forces. The three-day local initiative, which began on October 31, 2025, concluded with this critical event aimed at assisting those in need of blood donations.
According to Burkina Information Agency, a total of 81 bags of blood were collected by the team from the blood transfusion center based in Bobo, who traveled to Solenzo specifically for this occasion. The process for each donor included measuring weight and blood pressure, followed by an interview before proceeding with the donation. Individuals with health issues were excluded from participating, and those with a fear of needles chose not to donate.
The event saw participation from the Security and Defense Forces (SDF), Volunteers for the Defense of the Fatherland (VDP), and the civilian population, all contributing to the success of the operation. Captain Kambou extended his gratitude to the donors and encouraged the entire population to donate blood regularly, emphasizing that it is a vital act of solidarity that can save lives.
