Nahouri: The High Commissioner of the Nahouri province, Sie Aristide Mohamed Kam, visited the rice field of the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP) in Kampala to visit the 9-hectare planted area, encourage them, and congratulate the population that supports them daily on the ground.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the Volunteers for the Defence of the Homeland (VDP) of Kampala, a locality located about twenty km east of Po, received a visit from the High Commissioner of the province of Nahouri, Sie Aristide Mohamed Kam. The visit took place on November 3, 2025, with the intention to motivate the VDP and acknowledge the support of the local community.

The provincial authority was accompanied by the provincial coordinator of the VDP, Captain Saidou Abass Niampa, the President of the special delegation (PDS) of Po, Illassa Dianda, citizen watchdogs, and agricultural technicians. The objective of this field visit was to congratulate and encourage the VDP who have planted 9 hectares of rice out of a planned 12 hectares.

The visit also aimed to express the administration's gratitude to the landowners who have ceded their land to the VDP and to the people who support them on a daily basis in carrying out their activities. After touring the site, the authority and its delegation discussed several challenges faced by the VDP, including water shortages for off-season crops, the access road to the site, and the lack of transport means for security purposes.

According to agricultural specialists, a yield of 3000 kg/ha is expected, which would result in the production of 27 tonnes of rice. For the provincial coordinator of the VDP, Captain Saidou Abass Niampa, the results on the ground are promising. "We want to make the VDP productive and responsible; this quantity that will be collected will allow the VDP to be self-sufficient during the actions to secure the territory," said Niampa.

The High Commissioner, Sie Aristide Mohamed Kam, praised the commitment of the people to the VDP. "This is how we will achieve the food sovereignty desired by our highest authorities," he argued during the visit. The initiative was well-received by the local population and the VDP, who pledged to support the government's measures to enhance agricultural productivity and security.
