Ouagadougou: The Wendpanga Association for the Development of Disabled Persons in Sandbondtenga organized a day of awareness-raising on STIs/HIV-AIDS coupled with a counseling and voluntary screening session in Kaya on Wednesday, under the theme: 'Together for inclusive services'. Placed under the chairmanship of the High Commissioner of the province of Sandbondtenga, Idrissa Gamsonre, the opening ceremony was an opportunity for the administrative authority to commend the association's commitment to the fight against sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and HIV/AIDS, and also for promoting the inclusion of disabled people in access to health services.
According to Burkina Information Agency, El Hadj Amado Ouedraogo, president of the Wendpanga Association, emphasized that this awareness day marks the beginning of a campaign aimed at improving access for disabled people to health services through educational talks, forum theatre, and voluntary HIV testing sessions. He highlighted that the initiative will extend beyond the city of Kaya to the municipalities of Boussouma and Korsimoro. Ouedraogo expressed gratitude to the permanent secretariat of the National Council for the Fight against AIDS and STIs (SP/CNLS) for their support.
Tegawende Armand Noel Ouedraogo, head of the SP/CNLS branch, commended the Wendpanga association for its consistent efforts in the fight against HIV/AIDS and STIs. He reaffirmed his organization's commitment to support the initiative in achieving its objectives. As a demonstration of leadership, the president of the association, El Hadj Amado Ouedraogo, participated in on-site HIV testing conducted by the technical team mobilized for the event.
