Governor Urges Goulmou Region to Embody Success for Faso Mebo Initiative

Fada n’gourma: The governor of the Goulmou region, Ram Joseph Kafando, inaugurated the activities of the presidential initiative “Faso Mebo” in Fada N’Gourma, encouraging the local population to make the region a model of success. Attendees included administrative, traditional, religious, and military figures, alongside residents from various provinces.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the initiative was launched on November 13, 2025, with Governor Kafando highlighting the importance of the community’s involvement in this national effort, spearheaded by Head of State, Captain Ibrahim Traore. The program, approved by the council of ministers in October 2024, is one of six presidential initiatives aimed at constructing a new, dignified, sovereign, and prosperous Burkina Faso.

Governor Kafando explained that the initiative focuses on building road infrastructure through cost-effective brigades and enhancing urban development by constructing decent housing, improving sanitation, and creating green spaces. He emphasized the need for every Burkinabe to actively participate in transforming their living environment, fostering a self-reliant and self-sustaining Burkina Faso.

Recent contributions to the initiative include 764 vehicles received for several regions, including Goulmou, and significant community mobilization observed since the initial meeting in September 2025. The governor also made a donation valued at 7,740,000 CFA francs, comprising tools and equipment for the Faso Mebo construction projects.

Lieutenant Sourabie Abdoulaye, representing the Faso Mebo regional coordination, commended the president’s vision and leadership, describing the initiative as a citizen revolution and a national mobilization for a common cause. He urged various community members to contribute, stressing the importance of solidarity over the magnitude of individual contributions.

Kampadiba Idani, President of the special delegation of the commune of Fada N’Gourma, celebrated the initiative’s progress in his area, noting the active involvement of residents in paving and sanitation efforts since late September 2025. He encouraged continued efforts to ensure Fada N’Gourma exemplifies the success of the Faso Mebo initiative.

The event concluded with the commencement of paving and beautification activities in Fada N’Gourma, marked by enthusiastic support from the community engaged in this national participatory development effort.
