Nando: The Place de la Nation in Koudougou hosted the official welcoming ceremony for the national solidarity caravan "D?m? Sira" on Friday afternoon, which departed from Ouagadougou with the governor of Kadiogo, Abdoulaye Bassinga. The governor of Kadiogo will hand over the torch to his counterpart from Namentenga, Adama Jean Yves Bere, in Kokologho, who will then present it to the people of Kokologho, and then of Poa, urging them: "This torch belongs to the Burkinabe people. In each province, each commune and each neighborhood, let us ensure that this flame remains alive."
According to Burkina Information Agency, 'D?m? Sira' or 'The Way of Solidarity' was launched yesterday in Ouagadougou to rekindle the flame of solidarity in Burkina Faso during this period of security and humanitarian crisis. The ceremony, presided over by the governor of the Nando region, Adama Jean Yves Bere, with the governor of Kadiogo, Abdoulaye Bassinga and the mission officer representing the Minister of Humanitarian Action, Kadidiata Dembele nee Biko, brought together several administrative, customary and religious figures.
The head of the special delegation, Amedee Pare, praised "the brave and united people of Koudougou" and paid tribute to the initiators of the campaign aimed at strengthening government actions in support for vulnerable people. For him, solidarity goes beyond simple material donation: "It is recognizing the dignity of the other, whatever the differences in living conditions," he declared, calling on the inhabitants to make this value a common strength for the Nation.
Governor Bere traced the journey of the torch, a symbol of the campaign: "It was this Friday morning in Ouagadougou that the Governor of Kadiogo received it from the hands of the Prime Minister." As for the ministry's project manager, Kadidiata Dembele, she reiterated the importance of the initiative. According to her, solidarity has eroded in the face of this decade-long security crisis. She explained: "The 'D?m? Sira' (solidarity on the march) caravan aims to revive the spirit of mutual aid, mobilize citizens, and promote local traditions of solidarity."
Ms. Dembele also made a strong appeal for donations, emphasizing that solidarity is not a matter of wealth, but of sacrifice. Contributions can be made in kind (clean clothing, utensils, grains, non-food items), in cash via the National Solidarity Fund, or on the Faso Arzeca platform. Until January 30, 2026, the caravan will travel through all 13 regions along five main routes.
The ceremony was punctuated by a fundraising effort organized on site, in a spirit of fraternity and civic engagement. A blood drive is planned for Saturday, November 15, 2025. The authorities praised the mobilization of the people of Koudougou, recalling that national resilience depends on the participation of all.
