Bale: The residents of Bandiara, a village situated 6 kilometers from Ouri, have commenced rehabilitation work on the main road bridge leading to their village. This community-driven project, initiated on November 15, 2025, aims to improve access not only to Bandiara but also to surrounding villages.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the inhabitants mobilized early in the morning, equipped with pickaxes, loose stones, granite, and sandbags, to refurbish the bridge. Built over a stream flowing into the Mouhoun River, this bridge is the sole access route to the village and is currently in a state of advanced disrepair.

This annual community activity, timed with the drop in water levels in the basin, involves both young and old residents, reflecting a harmonious coexistence within the village. Bandiara, known for its agricultural output, relies heavily on this road for its economic activities, as noted by several on-site testimonies.

Neya Fodou, the youth president, emphasized the bridge's significance, stating, "This bridge was built more than 30 years ago, and every year we rehabilitate it. There are times during the rainy season when the water floods the bridge, making it impossible to leave the village. When there's heavy rain, the students can't reach the village."

Moussa Nignan, a village native and renowned healer, highlighted the road's importance as a transit route for traders traveling from Boromo to Taplara and further to Bandiara, Nerekorosso, T®erkou, and Tcheriba. He noted that the initiative aligns with the country's focus on self-reliance and endogenous development.

Despite their efforts, the residents agree that substantial resources are necessary to construct durable road infrastructure to facilitate better connectivity. They are appealing to goodwill supporters to assist in alleviating the challenges faced by those relying on this critical road.
