Ouagadougou: Vocational training has been emphasized as a crucial component of the Burkinabe education system. Technical Advisor Barthelemy Badiel, representing the Minister in charge of Vocational Training, stated on Saturday that enhancing vocational training for the youth is pivotal in addressing employment challenges by increasing and transforming local production.

According to Burkina Information Agency, Badiel highlighted that developing skills plays a significant role in reducing costly imports and bolstering the national economy. His remarks came during the official start of the 2025 academic year at the Training Centre for Employment in Ouagadougou, an event also dedicated to honoring the top entrepreneurs trained by the institution.

The ceremony gathered trainers, learners, and parents to acknowledge the importance of the skills acquired during the training. Among the award recipients, Kanon Djamilatou, a young restaurant entrepreneur, was notably distinguished for her proficiency in both traditional and European cuisine, a combination that sets her apart.

Djamilatou expressed her gratitude and surprise upon receiving her award, stating, "I take my work seriously. I didn't expect to be recognized today, but I thank the trainers for their support."

In addition to the award recipients, several trainees nearing the end of their programs showcased their projects across various domains such as culinary transformation, metal welding, and other technical trades. These efforts reflect the aspirations of young individuals to contribute to the development of local raw materials, aligning with the Head of State's vision to enhance national businesses.

Yentema Tindano, the Centre's director, praised the awardees and reiterated his commitment to facilitating the professional integration of the youth.
