Kourittenga: The Steering Committee (COPIL) completed a three-day tour on Friday, November 21, 2025, to review the achievements of the Belgian Agency for International Cooperation (Enabel) within the framework of the 2023-2027 Bilateral Program. Organized from November 19 to 21, 2025, the main objective of this mission was to verify the progress of the projects and to assess the consistency of the achievements with national guidelines.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the COPIL delegation visited localities in the Nakambe and Central Plateau regions as part of its tour to examine the achievements of the Belgian Agency for International Cooperation (Enabel) within the framework of the 2023-2027 Bilateral Program. The tour included the areas of Tenkodogo, Dassoui, Koupela, Pougnini, Pouytenga, Sapaga, and Zorgho.
Each step of the tour provided Enabel officials the opportunity to document results and engage with the beneficiary populations. In Dassoui, a 25-hectare lowland development has been utilized by 591 people, including 204 women, 336 men, and 21 internally displaced persons. The beneficiaries expressed satisfaction with the arrangement.
At the Koupela prison, welding and carpentry workshops have been established and equipped. In the primary schools of Pougnini A and B, Yargo A, B, C, and D, and Sapaga B, new classrooms and latrines have been constructed, transforming former Temporary Learning Establishments into normal classrooms. In Yargo, a water tower is under construction, and teachers have received training in teaching strategies.
In the Koupela health district, infrastructure projects are underway, including the construction of latrines, showers, and washing areas. Equipment such as solar field banking and material acquisition has been implemented. The tour concluded in Zorgho with a visit to an incinerator and ongoing projects, including the rehabilitation of the maternity ward.
Despite observing delays in execution on some sites, the overall assessment by the Steering Committee representatives is positive. The monitoring and evaluation officer, Yaya Traore, representing the chairman of COPIL, praised the actions' relevance, stating that the projects align with national guidelines and meet the population's priority needs.
Mr. Traore emphasized the importance of accelerating the pace, particularly for educational infrastructure, urging companies to enhance efforts to complete investments on time and meet quality standards. Sondema Kologo, the project manager for the bilateral program, expressed satisfaction with the evaluation and announced follow-up measures to strengthen monitoring and ensure timely project delivery.
Beneficiaries across the visited localities expressed gratitude to the Belgian Agency for International Cooperation (Enabel) and the Steering Committee members for their support and efforts.
