Djoro: The national caravan 'Deme Sira' entered the town of Gaoua, the AIB noted on Sunday. The torch was presented to the public at Place de la Nation in Gaoua by Governor Siaka Barro, after being warmly received at the Bakonon crossroads, at the entrance to the city.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the governor stated that the flame of the "Deme Sira" torch is intended to illuminate the entire region to strengthen solidarity and community spirit. "I invite the people of Djoro, who are witnessing the passing of this torch, to spread messages of peace and national unity for a united Burkina Faso where life will be good," he said.

"Ballot boxes, messages of peace and solidarity will be distributed throughout the provinces of the region to encourage more contributions to support the most vulnerable," added Mr. Barro. The ceremony was punctuated by a forum theatre performance led by the troupe directed by Burkinabe comedian Hyppolite Ouangrawa, alias M'ba Bouanga, aimed at strengthening reflection and civic engagement around the values of solidarity and living together.

The "Deme Sira" initiative, led by the Ministry of Humanitarian Action and National Solidarity, was launched on November 14, 2025, in Ouagadougou by the Prime Minister. It aims to revive the spirit of mutual aid that underpins Burkinabe identity. The initiative has already spread through the Kadiogo, Nando, Bankui, Tannounyan, and Guriko regions.
