Ouagadougou: The Zero Female Cancer Association organized a ceremony to distribute breast prostheses and bras, aiming to support women affected by breast cancer. The event, held on Saturday, November 22, 2025, also featured a discussion on the theme "Self-esteem and confidence in the face of cancer."

According to Burkina Information Agency, the association's president, Assita Zerbo, emphasized the challenges faced by women post-mastectomy, as they are left with only one breast. To address this, 100 breast prostheses and 100 adapted bras were distributed to help survivors regain comfort and confidence.

"Through this ceremony, we are offering much more than a material gift. We are restoring confidence, dignity, and hope to these women who are fighters for us," Zerbo stated. Dr. Jean Bosco Kabore, a therapist and marriage counselor, engaged participants in discussions about self-esteem and emotional reconstruction after cancer, highlighting the need to address acceptance, anxiety, and positive thinking.

"It's about giving women the tools to accept the realities. It's not alarming, it's a stage, a disguised strength that can be overcome," Dr. Kabore explained. One of the beneficiaries, Arlette Zoungranna, shared her struggles post-operation, including fear of going out and societal perceptions. "I am very happy to receive this prosthesis, which will help me move forward, go out without embarrassment, and face people," she expressed.

Ms. Zoungranna commended the association's initiative, praising its efforts to bring happiness to affected women.
