Nairobi: The continental meeting of Catholic Television Directors from Africa and Madagascar recently convened in Nairobi, Kenya, from November 24 to 28, 2025. This gathering featured participation from German partners and the Vatican Dicastery for Communication, represented by Sr. Nina, a communication specialist. During this significant event, Pacis TV took center stage to showcase its recent achievements, strategic projects, and collaboration opportunities on both continental and international levels. Notably, Pacis TV also led several key segments of the meeting.
According to African Press Organization, the opening session was conducted on behalf of His Eminence Fridolin Cardinal Ambongo by His Excellency Bishop Bernardine Mfumbusa. Bishop Mfumbusa, recently assigned in Kigali by the African bishops to coordinate communication within SECAM, emphasized the importance of the Catholic Television Network Service for Africa Project. This initiative, presented by the Dicastery for Communication, Bishop Mfumbusa, and the CRTN/ACN team, focused on the urgent necessity to train communication experts within dioceses, avoid competition with secular media, and enlighten society with truth through media collaboration.
The meeting saw participation from several countries, including Ethiopia, Tanzania, Malawi, Zambia, Uganda, South Sudan, Kenya (AMECEA), Mali, Rwanda, Mozambique, Madagascar, Togo, Cameroon, Congo, Côte d'Ivoire, Burkina Faso, Nigeria, Germany, Argentina, Rome, and Austria. A notable highlight was the special participation of three Rwandan priests studying at the Catholic University of Eastern Africa. Fr. Patrice, Fr. Jean de Dieu, and Fr. Damien Kimenyi attended Pacis TV's presentation under special permission, expressing keen interest in the vision and orientations presented.
SIGNIS International provided an update on the upcoming Kigali International Meeting scheduled for August 2026. The agenda for this future gathering will focus on boosting the digital media presence of Catholic institutions, developing artificial intelligence tools and influencer databases, and addressing communication gaps in several episcopal conferences.
The meeting concluded with recognition of Pacis TV's leadership within the continent's Catholic television stations. Mr. Nicolas Pompigne-Mognard, CEO of APO Group, praised the channel's growing visibility, operational professionalism, and strategic impact across Africa. Pacis TV expressed satisfaction in contributing actively to a renewed vision of Catholic communication in Africa, rooted in truth, collaboration, and service to the common good.
