Leraba: The provincial director in charge of Humanitarian Action in Leraba, Ousmane Ouedraogo, presented the works carried out within the framework of social promotion on Wednesday, November 26, 2025.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the provincial directorate has undertaken significant actions in the province since the beginning of the year, focusing on three key areas: solidarity, humanitarian action and national reconciliation, the protection and promotion of children and families, and the promotion of women and gender equality.
Ousmane Ouedraogo reported that 1,050 internally displaced persons received food assistance, with 34 of them being trained in trades and supported in income-generating activities. The elderly and those living with disabilities received psychosocial care, including food and health support.
To reduce dependency, a cooperative comprising internally displaced persons and the host population obtained management support, accreditation, and arable land in Sindou's developed plain. Vulnerable children benefited from scholarships for vocational training, and some were placed with master craftsmen and the former national agency for employment promotion.
In addressing child protection, 194 children who suffered abuse received psychosocial support, and over 100 children in difficult situations were provided with school supplies. The provincial directorate established 70 community child protection units across five out of eight communes in the province.
Regarding women and gender promotion, 36 women survivors of gender-based violence received psychosocial support, while 14 others were funded for income-generating activities. Ouedraogo expressed gratitude to the country's highest authorities for these initiatives and emphasized the importance of enabling indigent people to achieve self-reliance.
