Nakambe Government Engages Citizens in Regional Conference on Reforms

Nakambe: The Government outlines its reforms and listens to civil society in Tenkodogo. Three members of the government led the Regional Government Conference in Tenkodogo on Saturday, an accountability framework that marks the return of direct dialogue with the people. Addressing key stakeholders in the Nakambe region, the ministers outlined the major reforms of the People's Progressive Revolution (RPP) and listened to citizens' concerns.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the regional conference was organized by the Government Information Service (SIG) and brought together driving forces in Tenkodogo, including women, young people, customary authorities, local elected officials, socio-professional actors, and citizen watch organizations.

The Minister of State for Agriculture, Animal Resources and Fisheries, Commander Ismael Sombie, the Minister of Energy, Mines and Quarries, Yacouba Zabre Gouba, and the Minister of Infrastructure, Adama Luc Sorgho, presented the actions undertaken in their respective sectors over the past three years. They emphasized the progress made within the framework of the RPP (Rural Planning Program), under the leadership of Captain Ibrahim Traore.

According to the presentations and the introductory film, several major results have been achieved: increased security of the territory (72% of areas under state control), institutional reforms for more accessible justice and a modernized administration, a new Mining Code and structural economic reforms, an agro-pastoral and fishing offensive to strengthen food sovereignty, and large-scale investments in roads, energy and strategic infrastructure.

The SIG recalled that these advances are the result of a national commitment: enrollment of VDPs, contributions to the Patriotic Support Fund, popular shareholding, and mobilization around the presidential initiative Faso Mebo.

The SIG coordinator, Jeremi Sie Koulibaly, praised a "successful exercise," marked by the quality of the discussions. For over three hours, the people of Nakambe questioned the ministers on various topics related to local development, security, public policies, and future prospects.

For the SIG, this approach aims to enable the population to clearly understand the RPP's vision and the policies implemented, in order to strengthen their support and participation. "We cannot build a prosperous nation without truth and dialogue. Those who govern and those who are governed must talk to each other to move forward together," stated Mr. Koulibaly.

He emphasized that, even though regional conferences had not been held in recent years, the Government had never ceased communicating through various channels. The return of this exercise demonstrates the commitment to strengthening transparency, accountability, and closer ties with citizens.

The regional conference in Nakambe facilitated direct contact between public officials and the local population through open, participatory, and constructive dialogue. Numerous and engaged stakeholders expressed their expectations and proposals, while ministers outlined the achievements and future prospects of the Regional Planning Program (RPP).

This exercise, which is expected to continue in other regions, is an essential lever for strengthening governance, mobilizing creative energies, and consolidating Burkina Faso's progress towards sovereignty, dignity, and development.
