Banfora: On the eve of the new year 2026, the president of the special delegation (PDS) of the municipality of Banfora extended his best wishes to the residents and all those involved in municipal development. He expressed wishes for health, peace, social cohesion, and shared progress, while also reviewing the actions undertaken in 2025 and outlining the priorities for the coming year.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the year 2025, although marked by a demanding national context, was one of sustained efforts and notable progress in several structuring sectors.
He particularly welcomed the progress made in processing the resettlement files of people affected by the construction of the bus station and the Cite du 11-Decembre, a sensitive issue long awaited by the populations concerned.
Among the major achievements, the top municipal official highlighted the launch of Operation Faso Mebo, an initiative aimed at improving urban planning, order, and sanitation in the city.
Public safety measures, such as increased street lighting and the installation of road signs, have also contributed to better protection of people and property.
The past year has also been marked by a significant advance in the field of urban mobility with the effective arrival of SOTRACO buses in Banfora.
This dynamic is expected to strengthen in 2026 with the acquisition of new buses, in order to improve service and facilitate the movement of people.
On the environmental front, the PDS welcomed the efforts made in urban sanitation, particularly through the implementation of the presidential HIMO program, which has both improved the city's cleanliness and created temporary jobs for the benefit of the population.
Paying tribute to the role of the press in informing and mobilizing citizens, the president of the special delegation stressed the importance of collaboration between the media and local authorities to support development actions.
For the year 2026, the announced priorities focus on consolidating achievements, continuing and strengthening the Faso Mebo operation, developing the Municipal Development Plan (PCD), and improving the delivery of basic social services.
Citizen participation will also remain a central focus of local governance.
Finally, the PDS paid a strong tribute to the Defense and Security Forces (FDS), the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP), and the Dozos for their commitment to the protection of the Nation.
He called on the people to provide them with constant support and sincere collaboration.
The president of the special delegation expressed the wish that the year 2026 would be marked by unity, dialogue, and collective commitment, in order to build a safer, cleaner, more united, and forward-looking municipality of Banfora.
