Sissili: The communities of Sissily, in the commune of Leo, and To, in the province of Sissili, celebrated the first edition of the 'Festival of Fraternity' on January 17 and 18, 2026. This gathering aimed to strengthen the historical ties between the descendants of the Biyen lineage and to promote social cohesion.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the event aimed to empower younger generations to embrace their cultural identity and the history of their lineage, which has been established in these two localities for generations. "We have a duty to pass on to younger generations the profound history of the Biyen family, who have been established in To and Sissily for generations, so that they can truly own their identity," explained Bayi Biyen, spokesperson for the chief of To.

The event's organizer, Mose Moussa Biyen, emphasized the need to perpetuate this forum for exchange. "We are destined to experience this brotherhood every year and to pass it on to our sons and grandsons," he declared.

The program featured traditional rituals presided over by local traditional authorities. These ceremonies, intended to honor ancestors, also aimed to implore peace for the community and the country. On the social and sporting front, a gala match pitted the youth of the Biyen community against the Latian football center in Ziro province. Performances by traditional troupes, modern music concerts, and a public dance also enlivened the two days of festivities.

For the participants, this festival serves as a catalyst for cultural resilience and strengthens family unity in the face of current challenges.
