Burkina Faso: Communication, a Strategic Lever to Win the War Against Terrorism, Captain Kon

Ouagadougou: Communication is an essential strategic tool for the victory of the Burkinabe army in the fight against terrorism, stated Captain Judicael Kon of the Gendarmerie on Wednesday, January 22, 2026, at the Institute of Information and Communication Sciences and Techniques (ISTIC).

According to Burkina Information Agency, the battle for communication has become central in times of war, allowing for increased transparency on ongoing operations, countering false narratives, and explaining actions taken in areas with significant security challenges, explained Captain Judicael Kon. Captain Kon, who also serves as the Director of Communication and Public Relations for the National Gendarmerie, emphasized that military communication aims to influence national and international public opinion. This promotes public support for the war effort and legitimizes military actions to preserve the nation's interests and sovereignty.

He further argued that victory against terrorism necessarily requires effective communication between the armed forces and civilian populations. Operational communication, he specified, remains an essential means of raising awareness among the population and destabilizing the enemy. This approach also helps boost the morale of fighters engaged in the field and strengthens their determination to win.

Captain Judicael Kon delivered these remarks on Thursday, January 22, 2026, during an educational conference.
