Ouagadougou: The Presidential Initiative for Health (IPS) supported the Yalgado Oudraogo University Hospital Center (CHU-YO) on Friday through the provision of medical equipment and the refurbishment of certain infrastructures, for a total amount estimated at 300 million FCFA, in order to strengthen the technical platform and improve the care of patients.According to Burkina Information Agency, this initiative is a significant step forward in enhancing the healthcare infrastructure and services at one of the major hospitals in Burkina Faso. Drissa Traor, the national coordinator of the Presidential Initiative for Health, emphasized the importance of this donation in improving both the medical services provided and the working conditions for healthcare staff at CHU-YO.Mr. Traor highlighted that the donation includes a complete refurbishment of crucial hospital facilities, such as the operating room, radiology department, and medical imaging services. The improvements also encompass upgrades to the air hand ling unit and the medical vacuum system. Furthermore, the pediatrics and neonatology services have been enhanced with the addition of five incubators to meet urgent needs.The initiative, driven by Captain Ibrahim Traor, aims to elevate the technical standards of existing health centers in the country. The Director General of CHU-YO, Ousmane Nr, acknowledged the substantial support from IPS, which has bolstered various specialties within the hospital. He mentioned the rehabilitation of an operating block, the provision of a new endoscopy device for diagnosing liver diseases, and the acquisition of an ultrasound machine for the medical imaging and cardiology departments.These advancements not only strengthen patient care but also significantly improve the working environment for healthcare professionals and the overall experience for patients. The enhancements align with Captain Ibrahim Traor's vision of advancing towards health sovereignty in Burkina Faso.The Presidential Initiative for Health, launched in 2024, represents a comprehensive program aimed at transforming the national health system.
