Ouaga-Bobo Highway Project Progress: 232 Kilometers Cleared Out of 332

Ouagadougou: The person in charge of monitoring the works of the Ouagadougou-Bobo-Dioulasso highway, Captain Sayouba Sawadogo, indicated on Sunday that the first phase of the project, launched on December 15, 2025 and consisting of cleaning the right-of-way of the road, has been executed to more than 70%, i.e. 232 kilometers cleaned out of 332.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the machines of the Faso Mªbo Agency are humming day and night, reflecting the desire of the technical teams to go "quickly and well", in accordance with the instructions given by the President of Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traore, on December 15, 2025.

'We have mobilized very dynamic and motivated teams. Today, we are at more than 70% of the execution rate, thanks to intense work carried out day and night, 7 days a week,' stressed Captain Sayouba Sawadogo.

Captain Sawadogo was speaking on Sunday, January 25, 2026, at the construction site, during an immersion visit organized for journalists.

The work is being carried out using bulldozers, which are being used to fell the trees and remove the roots to facilitate the subsequent technical stages. The work area is marked by markers spaced 100 meters apart, allowing for precise monitoring of the progress of the work.

The construction site is organized into four separate stations, spread along the route of the highway, with several teams deployed simultaneously to accelerate execution.

"These are the same types of posts, but with different teams set up along the track to work in parallel," Captain Sawadogo explained.

On the first site visited, covering the Tita-Boromo section, the team leader, Moctar Kandia Tankoano, explained that the operations mainly involve clearing vegetation and shrubs.

"All teams are mobilized, including technicians, supervisors, machine operators and the maintenance team. All conditions are in place for the work to proceed normally," he reassured.

At the Yimdi-Tita substation, civil engineer Rene Onadja emphasized that he and his team are working tirelessly to advance and improve the work on the site, while expressing his satisfaction with the progress observed.
