Nando: The Basic Education District (CEB) of To, in the province of Sissili, has officially launched its school sports season at the Tiessourou primary school. The launch, which took place on Wednesday, February 4, aims to bolster social cohesion, civic spirit, and resilience among students in an educational setting.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the event was themed "Sport, culture and leisure in primary school: factors of patriotic expression, resilience and excellence." The ceremony was presided over by Dahian Kini, vice-president of the special delegation of the commune of To, and was attended by administrative, customary, and religious authorities, as well as education stakeholders, parents of students, and the local population.

The organizers of the sports season aim to provide a framework for students to learn about living together, discipline, and respect for rules. This initiative is expected to contribute to the civic education of students and strengthen social cohesion within educational communities. The inaugural match saw Ly Primary School compete against Poin Primary School, with Poin securing a 1-0 victory.

According to Souleymane Zongo, Secretary General of the Organization of Sport and Culture at the Primary School of To (OSCEP), the activities are designed to promote the development of students, enhance their social skills, and encourage fair play and solidarity among schools.

Dahian Kini praised the initiative for its role in shaping responsible citizens, while Lamoussa Kientega, head of the CEB of To, emphasized that sports play a vital role in promoting self-improvement and fraternity among students from different localities.

Sports competitions and cultural activities are set to continue in the district's schools over the coming months, culminating in an awards ceremony for outstanding students and teams scheduled for next May.
