Bobo-dioulasso: The Agency For The Promotion Of Community Entrepreneurship (APEC), In Partnership With The Burkinabe Tomato Company (SOBTO), Organized A Training Session In Bobo-Dioulasso Aimed At Enhancing The Skills Of Tomato Producers And Suppliers Associated With The Industrial Unit.
According To Burkina Information Agency, More Than Twenty Participants From The Greater West Region, Including Guiriko, Attended The Training At The SOBTO Factory. The Session Focused On Equipping Producers With Technical Skills To Improve The Quality And Quantity Of Tomatoes For Industrial Processing.
Participants Were Trained On Various Aspects, Such As Cultivation Techniques For Industrial Tomatoes, Selecting Varieties Based On Regions And Seasons, And Managing Production Stages. Additionally, They Learned About Combating Plant Diseases And Employing Preservation Methods To Prevent Losses During The Ripening Period, As Well As Using High-Performing Seeds.
The Event Also Facilitated Direct Dialogue Between Producers, APEC Officials, And SOBTO Representatives. This Interaction Allowed Participants To Express Their Concerns And Reaffirm Their Commitment To Supply The Factory With Raw Materials Across Both Agricultural Seasons.
APEC's Director General, Karim Traore, Urged Producers To Adopt The Recommended Varieties And Organize Into Cooperatives To Secure Exclusive Rights To Tomato Deliveries. He Emphasized The Importance Of Organization And Discipline In The Sector And Assured Support For Initiatives Aimed At Improving Yields.
SOBTO's General Manager, Adama Kabore, Encouraged Participants To Apply The Knowledge Gained To Ensure A Consistent And Sustainable Supply To The Factory.
Beneficiaries Of The Training Expressed Their Appreciation, Noting That The Initiative Would Help Them Address Production Challenges And Increase Yields. They Also Conveyed Gratitude To National Authorities, Particularly President Of Faso Captain Ibrahim Traore, For Prioritizing The Agricultural Sector In The Pursuit Of Food Sovereignty.
