Passore: The Association Of Women In The Mining Sector Of Burkina Faso (AFEMIB), With The Financial Support Of The Project To Support The Strengthening Of Land And Mine Management (PARGFM), Organized A Two-Day Event On February 10 And 11, 2026, In The Commune Of Yako. The Event Featured Awareness-Raising Sessions, Training, And The Installation Of Village Savings And Credit Associations (Vslas) Within The Renaissance Cooperatives Of Sector 6 Of Yako, Which Focus On Raising Small Ruminants, And RELWENDE Of The Village Of Bouda, Which Specializes In Marketing Cowpeas Through Warehouse Receipt Financing.

According To Burkina Information Agency, These Activities Are Part Of The Implementation Of Component 3 Of The Project To Support The Strengthening Of Land And Mine Management (PARGFM). The Primary Aim Was To Establish And Operationalize The Village Savings And Loan Association (VSLA) Approach Within These Cooperatives To Enhance Their Financial And Management Capacities, Ensuring The Sustainability Of The Village Savings And Loan Associations.

Over The Two-Day Period, Members Of The Two Cooperatives Received Training In The VSLA Methodology. AFEMIB Program Officer Nab Edouard Kambire Explained The Core Principles Of VSLA Operations And The Tools Needed For Effective Management. Each Cooperative Received A Comprehensive Kit Containing Individual Notebooks For Recording Savings And Loans, A Register For Transaction Recording, A Stamp And Inkwell, A Calculator, And Three Bowls For Savings Collection. The Kit Also Included Two Bags For Fund Storage And A Secure Safe With Three Padlocks To Ensure Fund Security, Transparency, And Rigorous Management.

Presidents Of The Renaissance And Relwende Associations, Sophie Kafando And Kadisso Ouedraogo, Acknowledged The Importance Of The Training. They Stated, "The Training Was Extremely Important For Us. It Will Allow Us To Avoid Many Errors In Collecting And Using Funds And To Improve Our Services." They Also Appreciated The Development Of Internal Regulations, Which They Believe Will Enhance Organization And Operation.

As The Training Concluded, The Cooperatives Urged Their Members To Be Punctual, Diligent, And Respectful. AFEMIB Program Officer Nab Edouard Kambire Expressed Satisfaction With The Women's Participation And Encouraged Cooperative Members To Implement The Methodology To Mobilize Funds For Income-Generating Activities. He Also Advised Other Associations In The Municipality To Adopt The AVEC Model Demonstrated By The Relwende And Renaissance Cooperatives.

Mr. Kambire Acknowledged The Financial And Advisory Support From PARGFM, Recognizing It As A Key Partner In Promoting The Economic Empowerment Of Women In Burkina Faso's Artisanal Gold Mining Areas.
